§ 2 Structuring
I. Preface
* Use the search option to make sure if there are not already threads helping with your questions.
* To make it easier for the moderators, choose the fitting subcategory for your posts. In that way the moderators do not have to relocate posts but can help directly with the problems.
* Post your subject only in one thread. Similar posts in different threads only cause trouble and puzzlement, and thereby give more unnecessary job to the moderators.
* Choose a significant title for your thread, to make everybody grasp your topic without being forced to read in first.
* If you want to post technical problems or bugs, please describe them as precisely as possible. It is helpful to write a ticket to the support at the same time so the problem might be solved directly.
Please be not impatient if you do not get an answer to your question/problem description immediately. It is better to have the programmers first handling the problem and informing you when everything is working properly again!
* Please use paragraphs, interpunctuation etc to help the reader not falling asleep while reading longer posts. It really helps to read fast and grasp your point, and it makes sure that your posts will be read, too. You shoul also look for spelling before posting.
Multiple punctuation marks (like 20+ question marks etc) might be omitted as well.
* Because this is a game forum and people are here to have fun, spamming is not forbidden! Though, please do not spam in threats dealing with factual issues like the technical subcategory. Two or three spam messages are alright, everything exceeding this is only hindering to find solutions for the problem.
* Use the edit function if you have forgotten something in your post. Avoid double posts!
* The colouring of your post are fully due to your own esthetical sense. You should only be careful that the chosen colour can be read and that a potential reader is capable to read without eyes burning after some lines.
Exception: The colours green and red are for administrators and moderators only. That helps distinguishing their posts as well as important news and explanations.
II. As regards content
* If quoting other sources, you may cite maximum 1-3 lines of the articles (incl headlines). If quotations exceed this limit, you have to post a link to the article.
* There are still possibilities to post pictures at the forum. The only thing you need is a publically accessable (or an own) server where you have saved your image files. Then you can set a link to them.
* Duscussing religion, politics, economy and other touchy topics, you should have special sensitiveness and tactfulness. Such topics can become pretty easy pretty hot and discussions may end up in bad arguments.
* Private arguments shall only be settled via personal message or ingame!
§ 3 Rights and code of behaviour of the moderators
I. Rights
Each moderator has the right to punish violations of the rules. This includes edition of posts, deletion of contributions, closing of threads and topics, admonition of users as well as banning users. Permanent bans can only be issued by administrators.
Follow the instructions of the moderators. Acting against measures of a moderator will be punished. This includes e. g. reopening of a closed thread, or the opening of a new thread with the same topic, or ignorance of admonishments.
If you have problems with a moderator, please turn always to the next higher instance!
(moderator > super moderator > administrator)
II. Behaviour
The moderators choose in consideration of the following guidelines the measures and time for measures. Basically, all measures are applicable in consideration of the following guidelines and the moderator's discretion.
Guidelines:
Closing of Threads:
* Topic is dealt with
* Nothing has been written to the topic in more than 4 weeks
* On the authors demand
* Violation of rules
Deleting of threads and contributions:
* Violation of rules
§ 4 Netiquette
I. Attack is not always the best defense!
Everybody should be aware of the fact that there are human beings on the other side, too. A respectful and amicable behaviour ist to be followed.
You do not always have to be sweet as candy, but if everybody had as much a minimum of behaviour and friendliness as one would demand for one self, the basics of gentleness are automatically kept.
II. Beware your tone!
Even if sarcasm, irony, cynism etc mostly are meant in a funny way they are in many cases not to be understood that way in a written text. So please, be careful with such meanings.
III. Think what others might think!
It can happen that you write something with a special idea in mind, but a reader could interprete it in a very different way. Better read a text twice and ask yourself, if your personal feelings or circumstances or ideas etc do not blur your view. If something is unclear, why not ask the author?
§ 5 Legal
Each user answers for his own contributions!
SEAL media does not take any responsibility for the content of links in this forum and we distance ourselves from all violations of the law.
As the owner of this site we reserve the right to change the rules at any time.
Best regards,
the administrators
